2023 Volunteer Sundays

VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION FORM

What are Volunteer Sundays?

Volunteer Sundays are a generative space of compassion, sharing and connection, with the land and other humans. They are weekly opportunities to connect with other caring individuals, dedicated to work together for a world where Indigenous people are seen, heard, healthy and thriving. They are opportunities to make new friends, enjoy nature, and take action to support other communities while renewing your own vitality.

What to Expect?

There are many different ways to be involved, from tending the gardens, harvesting and processing botanical medicines to maintaining trails. Interested volunteers can work on designing and/or constructing simple infrastructures for Mochik Ania, our summer camp for Indigenous youth. Or you can be involved in networking/grant writing to keep our Center for Intergenerational Learning, Community Education, and Disaster Response programs thriving.

What to Bring?

Come prepared for a day in nature. Wear sturdy shoes. Bring layers of clothes appropriate for the day's weather possibilities. Bring bug repellent. Bring lunch, snacks (for yourself or to share), a full water bottle and an open mind. Do tick checks after you leave.

Who can volunteer?

Everyone is welcome. Please register in advance and let us know about your interests and if you have particular needs. We welcome both groups and individuals. Youth should be accompanied.

What does a typical Volunteer Sunday look like?

After registering with one of our team, you will be told the different activities of the day and you can join in were you would most enjoy and are needed. Depending on the day this can be a variety of options. There are things to do alone or to join in with a group. Often there is a time many pause to eat together, but that is of your choosing.

When and Where?

See in the registration form below for available volunteer dates.

The Volunteer Sundays Program is hosted near the Danby State Forest.
