What are Volunteer Community Days?

Volunteer Community Days are a generative space of compassion, sharing and connection, with the land and other humans. They are opportunities to connect with other caring individuals, dedicated to work together for a world where Indigenous people are seen, heard, healthy and thriving. They create a space to make new friends, enjoy nature, and take action to support other communities while renewing your own vitality.

What to Expect?

There are many different ways to be involved, from tending the gardens, harvesting and processing botanical medicines to wisdom and skills sharing. This is an intergenerational space with engagement for people of various abilities and comfort.

What to Bring?

Come prepared to be off of the concrete sidewalk. Bring a full water bottle, and an open mind. Food for you or to share is always welcome. Remember to check for ticks after you leave.

Who can volunteer?

Everyone is welcome to join! Please register in advance and let us know about your interests and any specific needs you may have. We welcome both groups and individuals. Youth participants should be accompanied by an adult.

What does a typical Volunteer Community Day look like?

Once you register with one of our team members, you'll be informed about the various activities available for the day. You can then choose to participate in the ones you find most enjoyable and where your help is needed. Depending on the day, the activities can vary, offering both individual and group tasks. There is usually a designated time for everyone to take a break and eat together, but participation in this is entirely up to you.

What other ways can I volunteer?

We hope that everyone who engages does so in ways that they love. See our general Volunteer Opportunities page to see other ways to engage. You can find a list of our current opportunities and feel free to reach out if there is some other offering you would like to share.

When and Where?

See in the registration form below for available volunteer dates.

The Volunteer Community Program is being hosted primarily on Geneva street in Ithaca. This is a new location and when we are hosting a day at this location it will be listed with the date.
